Near to Fondi is the ancient Abbey of San Magno.  The monastery was founded in 533 AD in the memory of the martyr San Magno.   After a long period of neglect this historic edifice has recently been under restoration.  Close by there is also a Medieval water mill.

Between Fondi and Terracina, near to Monte San Biagio, there is a stretch of the old via Appia next to the square Torre del Epitaffio  and the Portella which at one time marked the border between the old Papal States and the Kingdom of Naples.

Also between Fondi and Itri, some tracts of the original Via Appia have been cleared and restored to create an interesting countryside trail.

Today, Fondi is a thriving municipality with a range of good restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and supermarkets.  

There is also a daily fruit and vegetable market, in Via Marconi, selling excellent fresh local produce. Every Sunday morning there is a huge outdoor Market near to Fondi’s hospital.
